Discover the revitalizing power of a therapeutic stone massage. This treatment utilizes basalt stones, created by volcanic activity and smoothed out by river erosion, which are placed and moved around the body. Combined with massage techniques, the temperature of the stone distributes itself into the surrounding areas and deeper structures.
While the initial sensation upon contact with the skin may be intense, this sensitivity gradually diminishes as the body adjusts to the temperature.

The effects of a stone massage can include stimulating blood circulation, increasing lymphatic flow, calming the nervous system,
and easing the soft tissue. Ideal for relieving muscle tension, stiffness, pain, fatigue, stress, anxiety, and promoting wellness.

Some principles of Naturopathic Medicine also include: minimizing the risk of harmful side effects, encouraging the body's self-healing processes, treating the person as a whole, and the prevention of disease.
You would see a Naturopathic doctor for the same reasons you would see a family doctor. They do the same diagnosis, exams, but take the time to do a detailed intake. Rather than a pharmaceutical prescription or referral to a specialist, the Naturopathic Doctor will directly treat the condition through a physical therapy, natural remedy, or lifestyle change.
Naturopathic Doctors formulate a treatment plan that is personalized to each individual. It is safe and effective for anyone, and an excellent choice for treating and managing chronic diseases or health issues that have not responded to other forms of treatment.

Reflexology uses foot massage to effect physiological changes which then may have psycho-emotional benefits. The stimulation applied acts to clear nervous and tissue congestion, removing accumulated toxins from them and encouraging the body’s own innate healing ability.

In working the reflex areas corresponding to other areas of the body on the feet it is possible to detect imbalances in the energy zones and though pressure be able to help correct the previously reduced or blocked flow of energy. When the reflex areas are worked there is an increase in blood circulation; which is beneficial since this circulation supplies various parts of the body nutrients and a way of removing waste products from body tissues to organs to be excreted.

Reflexology induces deep relaxation allowing the nervous system to calm down and de-activate the ‘fight or flight’ syndrome reducing the bodies’ adrenaline levels which allows healing to begin.

In some areas of the feet it may be possible to feel the presence of crystal deposits which represents an imbalance in the corresponding part of the body. By massaging these crystals it is possible to cause them to breakdown and be eliminated from the body. In opening up the energy path-ways the self healing properties of the body are stimulated and allows neurological and circulatory systems to do their work. Energy starts to flow correctly again, the mind, body and spirit and brought back into balance and harmony.

My name is Vanessa Coady, and I’m excited to potentially participate in your path towards change. Health and well-being has been a central tenet of my life for over a decade now, initially as a Registered Massage Therapist, and now as Registered Clinical Counsellor. My history as a health care professional has informed my counselling in that I believe any challenge we encounter will see impacts in our emotions, our thoughts, and our physical body. By tuning into all three, we can turn signs of distress into sources of insight, and as resources for self-soothing and emotional management.

Your journey is unique, and our work together will be collaboratively tailored to meet your needs and values. Relationship is at the centre of my treatment approach, but I commonly introduce mindfulness, skill-building, body focused and roleplay techniques as possible tools. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is my preferred approach for assisting clients in facing and moving through traumas big and small.

If you’re here, it’s probably because you’ve identified something in your life you aren’t satisfied with and you’re ready to try something new. That urge to do something different will be the key to your success, if you only nurture it. I’d love to help you do that. I enjoy working with individuals from all ages, cultures, genders and sexuality, particularly with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and people struggling with chronic pain. Areas of concern I have a particular interest in are anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, identity, organizational coaching, meaning generation, and managing chronic pain.

My own healing journey has been one of learning self-love, self-acceptance, and building self-confidence. I live in Vancouver with my fiancée and our two cats, and I spent my free time playing board games, watching bad reality television, and crafting.

When things are going wrong, change can sometimes feel impossible. However, by looking for help, you have initiated a process that can transform your life. It’s possible to feel, think, and react differently, and you don’t have to struggle towards change alone. Contact me for a free consultation, and discover if I am the right therapist for you.
